In fact, according to social psychologist Roy Baumeister, the ‘need to belong’ is one of the main forces that drives us as individuals. After all, belonging is a crucial element in forming a sense of closeness and intimacy in our lives. And from an evolutionary perspective, cultivating strong relationships has an endless array of advantages throughout our being.
